In May of 2001, the state of Louisiana was already feeling the hot and humid summer weather
Ruby Havard was a young mom, just 19 years old raising a two-year-old boy.
The morning of May 15, 2001, would forever change Ruby’s life.
Little Wesley was just barely two years old He was a curious and playful boy, as many toddlers are at that age. That fateful morning, Wesley and Ruby were sitting on the porch of their Clintn, Louisiana home.
Wesley was playing with puppies, and Ruby sat by watching her son and enjoying a relaxing morning.
Around 9:45, Ruby decided to go inside and fix her and Wesley’s mid-morning snack of pickled eggs. She left Wesley with the puppies on the front porch. They did live on somewhat of a busy road, but she was certain Wesley would stay on the porch and she would only be inside for a minute or two.
Something would happen in those few minutes that remains a mystery to this day.
When Ruby came back outside with the snack, Wesley was not there. The puppies were wandering about, but no Wesley. She looked all over for him and found no trace of her little boy.
After a few more minutes of searching and panicking, Ruby called the authorities to report…
