The disappearance of Jaliek Rainwalker is not only heartbreaking- it should boil your blood. In 2003 Jaliek was adopted by his foster parents in Greenwich, New York.
Jaliek would disappear in 2007.
Jaliek was 12 years old when he disappeared. A 12 year old boy who never really stood a chance in life. Jaliek was never given a chance. He was diagnosed with special needs as soon as he was born to a drug-addicted mother on the kitchen floor in an Albany, New York house.
Jaliek was placed into the foster care system just two days later in the state of New York.
For the first seven years of Jaliek’s life, he bounced around to six different foster care families. Jaliek had some developmental delays and some behavior issues and therefore required a therapeutic foster home. A therapeutic foster home is one in which the caregivers are supposed to have specific training to care for a special needs child.
In Jaliek’s sixth foster home, he was able to remain there for four years- from 1998–2002. This family had started the process to adopt him, but some incident in the home caused them to change their minds. Jaliek once again was placed into yet another foster home.
