The year was 1978, and the BeeGee’s were playing on radio stations across the globe, teens (and adults), were lining up to watch John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in Grease and gas was $0.63 a gallon.

Life was different.

Timothy Willoughby was a 24-year-old young man, living with his girlfriend, Mary Ann Higgenbotham in Clayton, Indiana.

Timothy didn’t necessarily have a steady job, and he would just take odd jobs as they came along. Timothy also found himself doing some ‘illegal’ side jobs, which resulted in him having some warrants for his arrest in 1978. Interestingly, he had been sentenced to 40 days in jail, or 10 weekends, which he chose to do the weekends. He served a few and then stopped in May of 1978.

His crime? He stole a new Pontiac Grand Prix from the Lafeyette Shopping Plaza parking lot. When law enforcement found the car, it had been stripped and set on fire.
