The California Missing Five: The Disappearance of Shawn Dickerson

Shawn Dickerson dreamed of moving to New York City with a friend in 2011.

He was sharing a San Francisco apartment with five other roommates in an effort to save money and was working at a men’s clothing store. He also was playing the keyboard in a local band.

On December 1, 2011, Shawn left work around 11:30 a.m. for a lunch break. Shawn did not return to work, however, for unknown reasons, and his boss texted him that he was on the verge of being fired. Shawn allegedly told his boss that he’d be there the next day.

The next morning, however, Shawn woke up around 11:00 a.m. He did not go in to work.

He left his apartment around noon, taking only his cell phone.

Shawn walked around various points of interest in San Francisco and took pictures with his phone. He posted 16 photos to his Facebook page at 4:02 p.m.

This was something Shawn had never done before, so people took notice.

From there, Shawn Dickerson disappeared.

He never returned to the apartment; no one saw or heard from him. Attempts to reach him on his phone were unsuccessful.

His family would be leading the charge, searching for Shawn. For four days they searched all…
