New York Mom Vanishes in the Aftermath of 9/11: Where is Michelle Harris?

Michelle Anne Taylor met the well-known businessman, Cal Harris, in the early 1980’s. Michelle even spent some time working for their family-owned car dealerships before she and Cal wed in 1990.

They had three children before their marriage would become strained. Michelle would be pregnant with their fourth child when their marriage would completely crumble.

By early 2001, divorce proceedings had begun. Cal wasn’t happy about the divorce and tried to convince Michelle to reconsider. Michelle had made up her mind, however.

The morning of September 11, 2001, the world changed forever. Michelle spent the morning at her home in Spencer, New York, which she still shared with her soon-to-be ex-husband and their four children.

Michelle left for work that afternoon at Lefty’s Restaurant. After work, she had a couple of drinks with friends and then visited with her boyfriend, Brian, whom she had been seeing in the next town over.

Michelle left his house just after 11:00 p.m., telling him she was heading home. It had been a long day, and she was emotional over the day’s tragedies.

The next morning, Cal woke up and realized Michelle hadn’t come home the night before. He called their nanny and housekeeper to see if she could come over that morning and help get the kids off to school. She said she’d be there as soon as possible.

When she arrived at the Harris estate, she found Michelle’s gold minivan parked at the end of the driveway, but no sign of Michelle.

She drove up to the house and told Cal, and shortly after authorities were notified.

Michelle had disappeared.
