Melinda Tafoya-Deltoro, a 38-year-old mother, went for a drive in the Miner’s Candle area of Clear Creek County during a snowstorm. It was February 13, 2022 and this area of the Colorado mountains is known for extreme winters.

While it’s not completely clear, at some point Melinda called 911 for assistance. She was stranded on the side of Interstate 70 and needed help.

The 911 dispatcher alerted authorities, who made their way to her location. However, when they arrived 20 minutes later, they found Melinda’s vehicle on the side of the road, but no Melinda.

A quick search turned up no sign of Melinda anywhere.

After two days of Melinda being missing, the authorities finally released an Endangered Person Alert to the public. Searches would continue, but the amount of snowfall in the area made it difficult to search.
