Carnegie Mellon College Student Vanishes Into Thin Air: The Cold Case Disappearance of Andrew Karis
Andrew Karis was a smart young man -and a self-proclaimed perfectionist. In 1993, Andrew was attending Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He was a private guy, with a small circle of friends, although it is known that he did belong to a fraternity.
Andrew was originally from San Francisco, and his mom still lived there. He made some phone calls to her, and they discussed how he was struggling in school and having a hard time that year.
This wasn’t necessarily with his academics or grades but was believed to have been social. Andrew and his mom talked for a while, and his mom believed he was in better spirits when they hung up.
On March 14, 1993, Andrew called his mom and asked her to please pick him at the corner of 3rd and Geary Street in San Francisco. There are two possible places that 3rd could have meant- 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue. His mom tried them both and drove all over looking for Andrew.
She never found him, and Andrew was never seen or heard from again.
